Prince of Songkla University is a key institution in Southern Thailand, established to foster development and growth in education and industry. It possesses significant potential and strength in leading national-level research. However, utilizing the university’s research outcomes and knowledge to develop the country under the policies of a knowledge-based economy and creative economy society remains necessary and in high demand.
On May 29, 2012, Prince of Songkla University received government support to prepare for the establishment of the Southern Science Park. The funding was allocated through the Office of the Secretary to the Board of Science Park Promotion. The initiative focused on the rubber and palm oil industries, encouraging private sector investment in research and development. The aim was to promote sustainable technology-based enterprises and enhance the capabilities of regional science parks, preparing them for sustainable future economic growth. This initiative remains a clear and tangible effort in the sustainable development of Southern Thailand.
